This is a wonderful vintage black velvet dress made in the United Kingdom by Laura Ashley.  I believe that the label dates the dress to the 1980s.  The dress has padded shoulders, long sleeves, a crossover bodice, a defined waistline and a skirt that is cut full, constructed in flared panels, so that it falls in drapes, almost like a circle skirt.  There is a brass button at either cuff and loops at the sides for a belt, but no belt is supplied.  It does up with nylon zipper at the side and the upper is lined, but the skirt is unlined.

Material: 75% Cotton / 25% Viscose velvet.  The lining is 100% polyester.

Sizing: US size 12 is indicated, but please rely on the following measurements for fit:

Shoulders:  18” across the pads

Sleeves:  24” from the shoulder pads

Sleeve inseam:  17 1/2”

Bust: 38” around

Waist: 28” around, could be cinched (or not) with a belt

Hips:  44”, meant to fall loosely

Hemline:  140” around

Overall length: 49 1/2“, measured flat

Condition:  It is in very good condition with no wear, tear, fading, odours or stains.  This was well cared for over the years.
